Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has demanded "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen projectiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.
